The Moses Mabhida Stadium is Durbans largest stadium built for the FIFA world cup, Rarely used as the rugby is played next door at Kings Park Stadium, home of the Sharks. South Africa has a very bad case of not future proofing anything, both the Cape Town stadium and the Durban stadium are very poor for Rugby, Rugby being the main sport played in this country, Therefore all the rugby is played at the original stadiums with this multi million dollar facilities spending alot of time empty.
However the Moses Mabhida Stadium is an awesome piece of design and engineering, designed by Gerkan, Marg and partners the stadium features the longest spanning single arch in any stadium in the world. with a total span of 350 metres, the stadium surrounding also have some incredible clean lines and general spacial beauty.
A very cool asset for Durban City.
