The sharks nets are set up in a staggered set up allowing animals to swim around them and into the protected areas, infact 80% of the sharks caught in these nets are caught leaving the beach AKA on the beach side of the net.
Each day the nets have to be checked to see if sharks have been caught and the sharks are either freed if still alive or taken back to the Sharks Board base for research and analysis.
At 4.30am we decided to catch the boat tour to watch the men clear the sharks nets, although we didnt get to see any sharks in the nets, we did get a beautiful harbour sunrise tour. Capturing some of the best Durban photos on the entire trip!
