Dance Dance!

After driving more than 1000km onto Durban after Addo elephant park we finally made it safely to Amys grandparents. Two lazy days of recovery and we headed off to St Lucia to hang with some Hippos!

On the way to St lucia we stopped off to watch some traditional zulu dancing. To be honest a barely caught a word the guide was saying, many clicks and clocks, I managed to catch the jist of it, Traditional dancing used during the marriage and engagement period. So big ladies reading bones and so fourth.

However most interesting to me was the Zulu huts, A dome made from thatch with curved sprial bamboo structure, effective strong and cheap, however what I couldn't and still haven't managed to get my head around is the idea of having a fire pit in the middle with no chimney!

The pressure from the air entering the always open door forces the smoke to exit through the thatching! This causes you to essential live inside the chimney and thus the air inside these huts feels like that. cough cough... I think Ive got the black lung pop!

The Traditional Zulu beer is a fermented non carbonated mixture of what tastes like horse shit, I still think they just have all the tourists on telling us how this is zulu beer when its actually there dirty laundry washing water. It is 12% though! A zulu man has a diet of zulu beer and pot.
