I enjoy making these birthday posts (I think this is the eighth??) It gives me a chance to reflect on the year I've got to spend with you. This year, however, has been extraordinary.
I've been listening to a bunch of podcasts lately whilst sitting on my wind trainer or out for a run, and there was one discussion that has truly stuck in my mind. In life, we should always be on the hunt for those uncommon people who are in constant pursuit of greatness, Surround yourself with people who push you to be better rather than those who make you feel better!
I have truly surrounded myself with one of these people living every day with Amazing Amy. You work harder, push harder and think bigger than anyone I have ever met, all whilst never missing a coffee date, someone's birthday or a chance to hold a baby. I have watched you smash through the Defence Force entry process all whilst researching who is at the top. I have watched you flick through the NZ Psychology Journal straight to the page to see who is the President. I have watched you work a fulltime job, write a masters thesis, organize an incredibly successful Gala evening, smash out 22 pushups, all while looking after me. Seriously, you make Ironman training look like a walk in the park.
Amy, you are truly the most passionate and driven person I have ever come across, you are the definition of the uncommon person in pursuit of greatness. I'm incredibly excited to chase you on this new journey of ours. I love you so so much. Happy Birthday! I know this next year will be even bigger than the last!
Motivation is crap. It comes and goes. Find what you're passionate about. Then you can be driven. When you're driven you don't give a damn.
