Hard to Concentrate

Photos : Patrick Reynolds

I have been hanging onto these images for a few months now wondering when or if I should ever post them... I very rarely ever post images taken by someone else on here, and even more so I almost never post my architecture work. Tonight calls for an exception to both of those.

This building, an obsession that has consumed almost 4 years of my life, was awarded an Auckland Architecture award in housing by the NZIA (New Zealand Institute of Architects)

Architecture is a conversation, between materials, spaces, light, and most importantly people. I have never been pushed or learnt so much in the 2.5 years while working with Adam Mercer, and this building was the result of blood sweat and tears together working on the project. None of it however would have been possible without Mum and Dad, the two people stupid enough to YES to such a proposal.

Congratulations to Mum and Dad, Adam and Shelley Mercer and Alastair Mckenzie! I wish I could have been there to celebrate with you all, but from the looks of the photos you had a few beers for me anyways :-)

Time to get back to my thesis.. "You're only as good as your next project" ...I might be taking a step backwards, currently finding it hard to concentrate :-/
