I've started a dangerous habit of calling Rowan to see if he would be keen on poorly organized but potentially fun as hell adventures with absolutely no warning. A few years ago we drove my Datsun some 1000+km around the North Island with a few days' notice. This year I called Rowan on a Wednesday with the proposition of a two-day bike packing adventure starting in Lake Tekapo at 8am on Saturday. We rode roughly 80km to Twizel via some gravel roads and a stretch of the Alps to Ocean trail. Beautiful clear Autumn days, with enough food and beers on board, to make it one hell of an awesome riding/ catchup session! Love these adventures.
